Hugh Jackman is a top actor with rippling biceps a washboard stomach and looks to match. He is a talented singer and dancer and has appeared as superheros avenging wrong and protecting damsels in distress. And now he has been crowned Sexiest Man alive for 2008 in People Magazine.
Last year Matt Damon was the winner and George Clooney and Brad Pitt had shamelessly campaigned for him since 2001, but 2007’s winner was Bourne to the title. “You’ve given an aging suburban dad the ego-boost of a lifetime,” Damon, 37, told PEOPLE, explaining why he couldn’t possibly accept the crown – which perfectly demonstrates many of the reasons we chose him in the first place: irresistible sense of humour, rock solid family man, heart-melting humility.
The actor and father of two children, High Jackman can now add People magazine’s 2008 Sexiest Man Alive title into his resume. Described by the magazine as “a triple threat: a star who can sing, dance and wield a weapon,” he beats some other notable names in the annual list. The 40-year-old Australian actor beat James Bond star Daniel Craig to the top spot, although the British heart-throb came in a respectable second place – Daniel Craig Mr Bond himself 2nd spot and Jon Hamm on the 3rd spot.
Celebrating his newly attached title, Hugh conducts an interview with People’s Elizabeth Leonard and Julie Jordan to talk about some of his personal issues, from his first kiss to what he wears to bed. Besides, he also shares his wife Deborra-Lee Furness’ response on his Sexiest Man Alive title, about which he says, “God bless her, she said, ‘I could’ve told them that years ago!’ And then she said, ‘Obviously, Brad wasn’t available this year.’ And I said, ‘That was a joke, right?'”
About his first kiss, the movie hunk admits he had it when he was still 9 years old with a girl named Sarah Dowsett. As for what he wears to bed, Hugh admits, “I didn’t wear anything until my daughter was born and we had a night nanny because I was working. I walked out stark naked, and she was reading a book. Now I like boxer briefs.” Maybe we should send him some Schultz Boxers!
Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman’s actress wife calls his perfect form “the Body of Doom.” Above all though, she claims he has a much softer side inside as he is “a romantic who sings ballads at home and makes pancakes for Oscar, 8, and Ava, 3.”

Jackman – who stars in the new epic movie Australia with actress Nicole Kidman – says he has frequently heard rumours about himself being gay. This film ahs been slated by the press ! Who knows. Jackman says ‘When I played [flamboyant Australian entertainer] Peter Allen on Broadway in The Boy from Oz, Deb saw the show about 50 times.
To keep healthy Jackman meditates for 30 minutes twice a day and eats every three hours. He also avoids sugar and tries to keep his diet low in carbohydrates. ‘There’s really no sugar. I eat every three hours, that’s the key. ‘You’ve got to have something in your stomach before you train, so sometimes I wake up at 5am, have a bit of cereal and then work out.’ Jackman also moisturises one a day, but now keeps his stubble because ‘every photographer wants it’. The father of two says he is happiest when he is with his family, which includes his daughter Ava, three, and son Oscar, eight. Keeps in touch with his feminine side and knows how to stay lean, trim and healthy.

The annual list has experienced a British invasion including celebrities such as Simon Cowell, actor Daniel Day-Lewis and singer Sting.

Other sexy men of the list include Hollywood staples such as Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Matthew McConaughey, male model Tyrese and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s husband Todd Palin. The list goes on!
